How the vote works

Microboost is a $500 grant for a Memphis creative collaboration. Applying is free and open to anyone. This round received 20 submissions. Eighteen met the requirements and are listed publicly here. They stay listed after the vote closes.

The winner is chosen in two rounds.

Round 1: public vote, Thursday, August 13 to Thursday, August 20

Anyone can vote. You pick three of the 18 submissions on one ballot. One ballot per person. We ask for your name and email so we can check that.

Duplicate ballots are removed before counting.

The four submissions with the most votes advance. Round 1 vote counts are not published.

If two or more submissions tie for the fourth spot, the tie is decided by a coin flip, recorded on video and posted publicly.

Round 2: LRC Members vote, Friday, August 21 to Tuesday, August 25

The four finalists are ranked by LRC Members. Each member ranks all four. First place is worth 4 points, second 3, third 2, fourth 1. Most points wins.

Ties go to whoever received more first place rankings. If still tied, a coin flip, recorded and posted.

Any member who submitted an entry this round does not vote in round 2.

Membership

Membership is not required to apply, to be listed, or to win. Members rank the four finalists. That is the only thing membership does here.
