Episode 5: How to Write a Love Song with Victoria Dowdy
Victoria Dowdy is a musician, singer/songwriter, and a star of the stage.
Singer/songwriter Victoria Dowdy started her music career relatively late. She always sang since childhood but was too shy to pursue it professionally until it hit her: she would regret it for the rest of her life if she didn’t follow her path. Now, she’s a star on the stage, collaborating with musicians (including her duo with Ethan Baker for Oakwalker), releasing albums and singles, and finding the happier side of herself through writing.
We talk about overcoming imposter syndrome, how she learned to perform from being a waitress (and a princess for kids parties), how to exercise your performing muscles, how she analyzes her performances, writing vulnerable and honest lyrics, her process from start to finish on how she writes and releases a song, her experience recording in Royal Studios after winning a competition, and a song she is currently working on called “Mean Girl” about adult bullying.
